The Annual Ecumenical Dinner is coming soon. Sign up to help!

As I sit here, looking out of the window, watching the flakes fall on a snowy Tuesday in mid-January, I'm trying to think of spring things...or at least Mud Season things...

Look at all the people!
The annual Ecumenical Dinner held in early March comes to mind.  This meal is the brain child of Rose Cronin and her husband Jim, both parishioners at St. Christopher's Roman Catholic Church, our neighbors just up the street.  This pictures I've added here were taken at the event in 2007.

This will be the 24th year for the annual event -- a complete turkey dinner with all the trimmings.  I think of it as a kind of "Table of Plenty -- on steroids!"

Everyone is invited to this free meal that falls between St. Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day and signals the end of the worst of winter.  All ages are represented at the event.  There are families with young children, as well as singles and older folk. And people of all ages from the local churches are there to help set up, serve and clean up.

A large number of the turkey dinners are packaged up to be delivered to people who are home bound.  A crew of willing volunteers handle this task as well.

The turkeys and pies are all cooked and donated by members of all the local churches.  The "sides" (yummy mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy and cranberry sauce) are cooked and catered by York schools, with the cost of the food divided among the churches.

This year's effort will happen on Saturday March 12th, and St. George's enthusiastic team will be headed up by Kathy Roosa, Lori Pesciotta and Jane Morris.
Our friend Bess's smile says it all!

Sign up sheets will be going up soon, asking us to cook turkeys, pies and provide some willing hands to help make it all happen. Be sure to get in on the action this year -- sign up!

This is a great way to help those in need in our community -- after the last dish is dried, you'll be glad you were part of the effort.  Have questions?  Send me an email!
